Krzysztof Wodiczko on art, culture and technology on February 8, 2016

Expertly staged in public space, Krzysztof Wodiczko’s large scale video and slide projections deal with themes such as war, conflict, trauma, memory, and communication. His art is in active dialogue with both victims and perpetrators of current political conflicts. Using projection as his main form of artistic expression, he carefully considers a sense of place in his statements. His work has contributed to the evolution of projection as a medium, particularly with his voice recorders and wearable displays. Krzysztof Wodiczko is a professor at Harvard University and was awarded the Hiroshima Prize for his artistic contribution to world peace. He succeeded light artist Otto Piene as director of the program “Art, Culture and Technology” at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2016, he will work with Professors L. Bachhuber, E. Hornecker and W. Sattler at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on a project for Kunstfest Weimar.
