Participation & Empowerment: Goals, Methods, Results

The lecture by Kristina Leko gives a critical insight into three of her community based artistic projects covering a period of twelve years. Leko works in the mediums of video, photography, happening, text, and object installation, with social interaction at the core of her investigation, which is often placed in public space. She has initiated and realized several community art projects in different countries, mainly in collaboration with deprived social groups. Her solo exhibitions/projects include The Kitchen, New York; Secession, Vienna; NGBK Berlin; Bonner Kunstverein; Institute for Art in Public Space Styria; Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb. Her works are included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb; Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig; TBA-21, Vienna, Universalmuseum Joanneum, Graz, etc. Eine Vortrags- und Gesprächsreihe zur Kunst im öffentlichen Raum und zu neuen künstlerischen Strategien.
